Creating a New Tenant

In LoginID, tenants represent individual projects. Each tenant is linked to a specific website or URL where your application is hosted, including those in current development on localhost. It's important to create a new tenant for each distinct URL under which your application operates, this also includes different port numbers as well.

Creating a new tenant is quick and easy.

  1. Create your LoginID admin account
  2. Enter your website
  3. Get application ID and tenant base URL
note

Follow this guide to create a tenant that requires new users to sign up with email verification. Users will not be able to signup with passkeys alone. If you want to create a tenant where users can register a passkey without email verification, go to the advanced create tenant page to create a tenant there instead and set the Username Format to None.

Create your LoginID admin account

Head to the customer dashboard to register a new account with a passkey and complete email verification. Congratulations! You've successfully created an admin account. This is the platform where you can create passwordless integrations with your applications.

If you've already created an account, you can log in using the same account.

A get started screen will appear.

note

If this is not your first tenant you can always create a new tenant by clicking on the + Create button on the right side of the tenants list.

Enter your Website

Enter the URL for your client application. For local development, use http://localhost:<port> as it is acceptable. By entering the URL, LoginID will handle all the settings needed for passkeys. After clicking Next, you have successfully created a new tenant! Explore guides on integrating passkeys and LoginID from here.

Get Application ID and Tenant Base URL

To enable passwordless authentication with LoginID, acquire an application ID and the base URL from your setup tenant. An application is generated automatically upon successful tenant creation. Locate the app ID in the Application section.

The base URL for the tenant can be found in Settings - General. These are all the details needed to kickstart your integration. Refer to the guide for your current framework to proceed further, located under the Get Started section.
